About Enzo

Enzo De Palma is a writer and musician based in Los Angeles, CA.

As a writer, Enzo has a passion for comic books, science fiction and critical exploration of the identity of America. His debut graphic novel, Manhattan: Manhunt, with artists Diego Albuquerque and Joshua “Sway” Swaby, is available now. And you can learn more about his contribution to Oneshi Press’ Cohorts Anthology here. Enzo is also constantly working on other graphic novels, comic book series, novels, op/eds and screenplays. A comic book fan from a young age, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Novel Writing from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he studied under comic book writer and novelist Clay McLeod Chapman.

As a musician, Enzo started piano lessons at eight years old and has studied with some of the best of the Los Angeles jazz scene. He added more instruments to his repertoire over the years and now plays a total of thirteen, including mandolin, bass, guitar, banjo and drums. He plays, composes and arranges in many different styles, including jazz, R&B, funk, bluegrass, folk, rock, pop, and classical. He is currently the mandolinist for his folk band, Corporate Bike Culture, and the keyboardist in his rock band, Margo’s Bench.

Enzo has played guitar and mandolin with pop singer-songwriters Em Beihold, bass with R&B singer-songwriter Mack Keane and indie-rock band Mons Vi, and keyboard with his alt-rock band Jack the Bear. He was also named first trumpet to CAIS' Honor Band in 2014 and has played with many other LA-based musicians, including punk/rock band No Small Children, alt-rock singer/songwriter Von Thrasher, jazz saxophonist Ari Silberman and R&B singer/producer j.mulay. He wrote and recorded the theme song for the Biographers International Organization's podcast, Bio, and his original music has been heard on the webseries Deborah Kobylt Live and the author interview series Live Talks Los Angeles. He has also played in several off-Broadway musicals, including 1989: A Musical Play (2016) and The Swashbuckling Sisters and the Story of the Seven Seas (2018). Enzo currently teaches music at Oakwood Elementary School and is a faculty member of Oakwood Summer Program's music department.

In 2014, Enzo released his first EP, Big Space, featuring a variety of genres, including jazz and classical. In 2016, he released a gypsy jazz EP called First Hunt, featuring him on mandolin and Alex Sala on guitar, and in 2018, he released an EP of solo jazz piano, Songs for a Rainy Day. Jack the Bear’s debut self-titled EP was released in 2021. Enzo is currently working on an album with Corporate Bike Culture and his own full-length, genre-bending solo album.

He founded 488 Studios in 2022. 488 Comics released his graphic novel Manhattan: Manhunt and 488 Music will release his album as well as Corporate Bike Culture’s.
